Sadly Jill passed away on the 21st October last year
after many years of producing
many breathtaking paintings and giving encouragement to up-and-coming artists and pleasure
to hundreds of people through her work.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Jill M Aldersley lived and worked in the Lake District since 1967, painting the
surrounding scenery in all its seasons from the autumn woodlands to snowy mountain - tops.
Jill studied Art at the Harris College in Preston where she gained her N.D.D. in oil painting
and Lithography, followed by A.T.C. Manchester and a spell teaching at Beacon Hill school Aspatria.
She then went to work part-time @ the Amble side studio / Pottery, while developing her own
paintings, soon converting to water colours, revelling in its translucency, and it capacity
to convey the subtleties of mood in this ever changing landscape. She is also a member of the
Lake Artists society, and also Ambleside & Kendal societies. Her work is shown at many
galleries throughout the Lake District as well as her own exhibitions.
